Lighting Up The Table

Come sunrise or sunset and see The Spiral Table in its full glory.

Each atom hanging from the steel verbrae has a colored dichroic glass nucleus which reflects the opposite color to which it transmits.

The colors transmitted through the dichroic glass, for all and any piece, were carefully selected to align with the accepted shades for each element. Below you can see the pattern over The Spiral Table and the colors of each element better explained.

Crafted and hung specifically to best complement the natural rays of light that radiate through the glass windows of the Life Sciences Building, and, together with carefully positioned lighting, these rays will reflect off of the spiral at particular angles that illuminate different elements with the movement of the Sun. Sunrise and sunset are particularly beautiful times to capture the colors in full vivacity.
